Teré Nelson, D.D.S., F.A.G.D.

I started out in dentistry at a young age, choosing to join a dental assisting program when I was just 17. I eventually was trained as a dental hygienist, and I worked for a dentist who encouraged me to pursue my dream of going to dentistry school. Today, I believe that the experience I gained at all levels of dentistry has made me a better dentist. It has helped me to understand the needs of patients and how best to customize my care to their life and desires. It has helped me develop a heightened sense of commitment to doing whatever it takes to help you have the healthy, beautiful smile you deserve.

Stacey Thomsen, Dental Hygienist

The year I graduated from high school, I began at an entry level position in a small dental practice and began training for a dental assisting position. I loved the patient contact and patient care that being in dentistry provided. After becoming a dental assistant and staying in that position for numerous years, I became interested in furthering my education and applied to hygiene school. My desire to acquire a Bachelors Degree took me in the direction of Oregon.

After being accepted and completing my studies at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, I graduated in 1993 with my degree. I moved back to Nevada and practiced at an advanced cosmetic and restorative dental practice for the next 12 years.

My family and I moved here from Carson City, Nevada. Our spark to move to the valley came from having three wonderful sons who are extremely active in sports and outdoor activities. The Flathead Valley provides all of the outdoor activities that our family loves. We have found that people here are extremely kind and generous, so I believe it has been a good match for our family and values.

After working with the team at Dental Distinctions, I feel complete. I have been able to come on board as a hygienist and provide the patient care that is best for our patients and important to me. Our office is on the cutting edge in technology and we are able and encouraged to keep abreast with continuing education and all courses allowing us to stay ahead in our field. Dr Nelson and Dr. Jarvis have such compassion for people and a true love for dentistry that I feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing practice.

Thanks to all of you for making our move to the valley such an easy transition and a positive experience.

Carrie Scott, Dental Assistant

I have enjoyed working in the dental field since 1999. My career began with an entry level position but changed as my education and experience increased. I am a Dental Assistant graduate of Apollo College in Spokane, Washington and feel lucky to have found a new home with Dental Distinctions when I moved to Montana in 2005.

My job as an assistant is to make you feel as comfortable as possible in the dental chair. I prepare you for treatment and make sure the doctor has all the necessary items to treat you; down to your most current radiographs. I not only pass instruments, but I make sure you are as comfortable as possible while in our care. I sterilize equipment and instruments, and prepare the necessary trays for each intricate procedure. The best part of my job and the most rewarding is to educate. I am here to explain the advantages and disadvantages for each different procedure and believe me, there are a lot of them. That is what makes dentistry so much fun, so many choices

I grew up in a small town in Washington and have one younger brother/best friend who lives in Portland, Oregon. I have two beautiful children; ages 15 and 18. I like to read, watch movies and love being outdoors. My hobbies include hiking, biking, and walking my two mini-doxies. I am a pretty fair shot with a pool stick.

One thing about dentistry is that it is never boring. I’m always learning and growing as a person, and I love that.

Tasha, Dental Assistant

My name is Tasha, I moved here from Lakeview Michigan in August 2006. I was an assistant at an office there for 2 ½ years. My husband, our three great children and I are enjoying the Flathead area and all it has to offer. I would enjoy speaking with you and seeing you at your next visit.
